All of us at the Mission Society are thrilled to launch our 2021 impact report, and to share a look back on the incredible achievements of our community. Below, you can read more thoughts on our year and why our work matters from our Board Chair, Matthew W. Mamak.
When I was in school, my basketball coach was a life-changing mentor. With his guidance, I learned lessons that I carry with me to this day, and values that serve as the foundation of my personal and professional success. He taught me the importance of hard work, compassion, and commitment — both on and off the court — demonstrating to me that the future I hoped for was within my reach.
I would not be the person I am today without having had the opportunity to grow under the guidance of such an impactful teacher. Now, I’m proud to be part of an organization that is dedicated to this same work – helping a new generation of students see their potential and realize their dreams.
Over the last year, our team has gone above and beyond to keep our community connected to the learning opportunities and vital support they need to thrive. Through robust virtual internships, in-depth STEAM and literacy activities, crucial mental health services, dedicated mentorships, and more, we showed 2,655 students and their families that they matter.
I’m excited to look back on another year of uplifting youth across the city, and to shine a spotlight on the remarkable efforts of every individual who helped our participants build their own strong foundations for their futures. I hope you will join me in celebrating all that we’ve achieved together.
Thank you for being a part of the Mission Society community, and for helping us ensure our doors remain open. We’re grateful for your commitment to work alongside us so every family has the resources and support they need to succeed. I can’t wait to see where we go together in the year ahead.
