Disability representation in STEAM

This Disability Pride Month, the Mission Society is celebrating the extraordinary individuals whose innovation and resilience are redefining what's possible in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics). Through their achievements and advocacy, they challenge stereotypes, break down barriers, and remind the world that STEAM is for everyone. People with disabilities thrive in every field, and it is vital that our students see themselves accurately and authentically portrayed in spaces often lacking representation.

We hope you will join us in championing these individuals with disabilities who are paving the way for a more inclusive future in STEAM and beyond.

Science

Technology

Engineering

Art

Math

Each of these inspiring stories emphasizes the importance of representation and the boundless potential within the disabled community. At the Mission Society, we are committed to diminishing the inequities faced by marginalized communities, not only in the classroom but across all STEAM fields. We ensure that every young person who walks through our doors receives the support and accommodation they need to thrive. It is when we focus on abilities rather than limitations, that we empower our young minds to reach their full potential because there is truly nothing they cannot achieve, given the right support.
