Licensed social workers are essential to the success of our students. In our schools, they ensure that each young person has access to comprehensive social and emotional support by offering advice, facilitating individual counseling, and guiding families as they face their most pervasive challenges. Their year-round efforts ready students to take on the world beyond the classroom with confidence, compassion, and joy.
This March, as we celebrate National Social Work Month, we had the pleasure of interviewing one of the Mission Society’s social workers, Mary McKevitz. A dedicated professional with a 35-year career in the field, Mary shared some insight on the day-to-day responsibilities of her job, along with her thoughtful observations on how she and our students are responding to new obstacles presented by the pandemic.
We hope you take a moment to watch this video and listen to Mary’s story. And to every social worker on the Mission Society staff: thank you for your hard work and dedication, and for all that you do each year to build bright futures alongside our students and families.
