Asian American and Pacific Islander History Makers

This May, the Mission Society is proud to celebrate diversity and extend the voices of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities in our classrooms. AAPI recognizes 75 countries from the entire Asian continent—including East, Southeast, and South Asia—as well as the Pacific Islands of Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia. Among these vibrant communities are scientists, engineers, artists, and more who are driving significant advancements in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math). Their remarkable achievements and inspiring stories open doors for future generations from all backgrounds to excel, ensuring that every dream is valid and every ambition attainable. For the students in our programs, this celebration is more than just a recognition of heritage—it's an opportunity to see themselves represented and to discover role models who reflect their aspirations.

We hope you will join us in celebrating the AAPI innovators in STEAM who are shaping our world and redefining what's possible.

As we recognize Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, we are reminded to celebrate the diverse cultures that make up our communities and the role they each play in shaping our history. Across our programs, our students represent 37 countries from around the globe. As a way to foster a community that supports and celebrates one another, we ensure that the events, activities, and STEAM curriculum we plan for students reflect the diverse backgrounds of our participants, allowing them to feel a sense of pride and belonging. It’s in our classrooms where we can promote understanding, embrace diversity, and build bridges that will advance the fields of STEAM.
